Cosmetic Bonding

Cosmetic Bonding

For a simple, affordable way to improve the appearance of your smile, try cosmetic tooth bonding. Cosmetic bonding uses a tooth-colored resin that we match to the natural shade of your teeth. Once the resin is applied to the problem areas of your tooth, it chemically bonds to your tooth enamel, seamlessly correcting cosmetic issues and improving your smile. You may be a candidate for cosmetic tooth bonding if:

  • You have mild to moderate gaps between your teeth.
  • Your teeth are slightly chipped.
  • The edges of your teeth have become jagged with wear and tear.
  • Your teeth are discolored.

Advantages of Cosmetic Bonding

With cosmetic bonding, you can improve the look of your smile in a single visit. The resin is applied to your teeth without the need for excessive enamel grinding due to the chemical bonding technique used. Once the resin has hardened, it can be shaped and polished to blend in with your natural teeth.

Disadvantages of Cosmetic Bonding

While cosmetic bonding is a more affordable option than veneers or crowns, the resin is not as durable as the porcelain used in these cosmetic procedures. Cosmetically bonded teeth are also prone to staining and damage and may need to be replaced after several years.

Cosmetic Bonding Maintenance

To keep your smile bright and white after cosmetic bonding, there are a few ways to prolong your bonding treatment:

  • If you are a smoker, quit as soon as possible.
  • Avoid biting or chewing hard substances, including your fingernails or ice.
  • Reduce your consumption of pigmented foods and beverages such as coffee, red wine, berries and chocolate.
